Kendra asks:

I want a good RC truck / buggy and would probably need to be under £200
I was thinking about the HPI Nitro MT2 G3.0 but is there a better truck that I could get?

I’m new to the RC scene so don’t make answers too confusing :)

There are 2 answers: RTR and Electric.

Traxxas is good and parts are everywhere. Get on craigslist and buy a good used t-maxx.

£200? If you MUST have nitro, get the traxxas nitro sport, or the thunder tiger Phoenix (high street shops will have em). The nitro sport is the easiest nitro i’ve ever used, but will cost about £230 with all the extra little odds and sods you’ll need. http://www.rccarsandtrucks.co.uk/564_1_105176455.html/Traxxas_1/10_Nitro_Sport_IC_Stadium_Truck_Ready_to_Run

However, be aware that nitro takes alot of knowledge, even as a beginner, and alot alot alot of maintenance. If you do buy nitro, you tube ‘how to run in a nitro engine’ and watch the ones from ‘squirell’. Also talk to the guy in the shop, or a mate you know who has one. Cos there is alot to know.
IF you can be convinced to buy electric, i’ve heard no end of good things about the traxxas slash.

Apparently it is entirely water proof, not that i tested such a claim when i drove one. But the titan 12T motor is one of the fastest brushed motors you can get for beginners. With a good battery it will happily keep up with the two nitro models i linked, and most nitro models for £200. Without any of the hassel.
Finally, if you want something crazy-fast, buy a brushless electric. For £250 you could getmidlandmodelcentre.com/epages/eshop319604.sf/?ObjectPath=/Shops/eshop319604/Products/3708/SubProducts/3708R&ViewAction=ViewProductViaPortal&Locale=en_GB
These trucks really are very very quick. Brushless electric can keep up with high end nitro models. However, remember they are very quick, and if you crash a small plastic car at 50 plus mph into a wall, it will break.
If you want brushless on the cheap, maybe trywww.nitrotek.co.uk/A2012T.htm
I clocked mine at 54 mph fully charged. This truggy comes with everything you need to race it, and the site does stock most of the parts. However, it can be said it is quite fFragilefor something that’s meant to go 45 mph plus.

RRememberwith electric you do have to charge them, fast chargers, and a good battery take between 30 mins and an hour, which iisn’ttoo bad. But for endurance races at the local track days you need to run nitro. That said, nitro are harder to run. And i would really suggest looking into electric first, especially with the brushless systems.
